Thick endometrial lining

I had a pelvic ultrasound due to extremely painful periods (age 40) and they have referred me for a second scan at a different stage of my cycle to see if my thickened endometrial lining thins on the next scan on its own. It was 17mm on my scan. I feel worried. Has anybody had this?

What contraception are you on? It may effect it. My sister uses the mirena coil, had this and need an ablation. Don't worry, it might be something quick and easy to fix, if fixing is needed at all.
