PCOS

I have been having irregular periods for a year - they come anywhere between 45 days and 30 days. I’ve had bloods which showed no elevated testosterone. I had a scan which showed bulky ovaries with polysctic features. The gynaecologist said as I don’t have the necessary raised hormone levels she can’t diagnose me. It’s crippling, I’m fatigued, it makes me depressed every month and I’ve put weight on with acne. Something definitely isn’t right. I was convinced it’s PCOS. I was offered the pill and referred to colposcopy.

Does anyone have any advice?

Were your LH and FSH levels ever checked and compared against each other?. I ask as there is often an excess of LH when compared to FSH. Most but not all women with PCOS present with abnormal hormone levels.

I would seek a second opinion from another gynaecologist.

Thanks so much for your reply! I actually don’t think they checked these levels as I can’t find it at all on my blood results. I will definitely look at a second opinion. Thanks again!
