im on my period and supposed to be taking my baby to his swim lesson this evening..I’ve tried a tampon for the first time (usually use pads)
I got tampax pearl compact regular

Finding it super uncomfy and sore..feels like it’s slipping out too no matter how far up I push it..any advice?

It sounds like you may need a larger size tampon. They come in both varying sizes annd absorbency- which can be very confusing if you don’t usually buy them.

The compact means size, whilst regular means flow rate. So in essence you have purchased a small stubby tampon.

I would suggest trying a larger tampon 😊

It’s not in properly, I can’t get on with tampax since having kids and read a thread on here about that very topic. But if I was you I’d go to Primark or get on Amazon and get some period swimwear, the modibodi etc look good x

Or as it’s this evening pop to shop and get another brand x

I can’t get on with tampons anymore. I use a Mooncup and it’s life changing.

Thanks all! I don’t think it’s since pregnancy as i had a c section and I tried a tampon once in my younger days and also thought it was awful then too😅 I’ve watched some videos and played around and it seems to be comfortable enough for swimming atleast🙈

Take it out and put a new one in, if you try push it in while it's already in it won't feel comfy. Just start again :) hope this works

longnapenthusiast · 05/06/2025 10:48

Would suggest water-based lubricant

iggleoggle · 05/06/2025 10:52

I find tampax unbearable but lillets are much comfier.

Devilsmommy · 05/06/2025 11:05

Lillets are definitely more comfortable than Tampax. It sounds like you didn't have it in right. As @flowerpink said take it out and pop a new one in. You have to get the angle just right or it feels wrong. Done right you won't even feel it

MintChocCat · 05/06/2025 20:44

I don’t get on with tampax either, if using tampons, I only ever use lillets.
