Angioplasty, has anyone any experience?

I'm currently in hospital, been here since Tuesday. I have a very bad toe injury, which has got worse and the toe may need to be removed. When this was being dealt with by the vascular team, they have found I have a blockage in the artery on that side. And now I have an angioplasty scheduled for Monday and I'm petrified! This has to be done before they can work out what's needed to deal with the toe.
Has anyone had an angioplasty done, did it hurt and did it work? My surgeon is very good and very reassuring, but he says if this doesn't work, he'll have to divert some blood vessels. I'm hoping it does work!
I've always been squeamish about veins and arteries and I'm really trying not to think about it, but I can't help not! Please post some positive experiences! Thank you in advance x

My husband has had this done so I've just quizzed him! He said the procedure doesn't hurt at all. They went in through the wrist and you just need to keep your arm very still. He had to have tablets after for a year while it fully heals. You can watch if you want on a screen apparently. He says not to worry, easier said than done I know His was done and dusted within 20 minutes ( he had one stent).

It really is a very minor procedure and you don't feel it at all other than the initial tube being put in, which just feels a bit like an injection or blood test. I have had two, fully awake through both watching the thing go through my arteries on the screen, and neither of them caused me any issues.
