Hand hold needed

So I found a lump in my breast over the last weekend and have been in a bit of turmoil ever since.

i’m 30 with a 2 year old little boy and honestly I feel like everything has just come to a standstill. I went to the GP yesterday and they did their exam and I have been referred under the 2 weeks referral. She did say she thought it was likely a cyst but the whole ‘what if’ is really consuming me at the moment.

just looking for a hand hold really and wondering if anyone had been through anything similar? Also don’t really know what to expect with the referral either if anyone has experiences?

thanks

Hi all,

thanks so much for all your replies, had my appointment this morning and it’s fibroglandular tissue! Very relieved!

Good news, I had the same a few years ago, they did take a biopsy so had to wait the longest week ever to find out what it was. I still have mammograms every 3 years and ask if the lump is still there, but they won’t tell me, I think it is, as when I lay down one breast is a bit perkier.

So pleased to hear your good news!

kellyjo4 · 04/06/2025 19:21

That’s such good news I’m not surprised you’re relieved. Hopefully sleep better tonight xx

sandrevolutionary · 04/06/2025 20:54

That's good to hear. Glad you had a good outcome.

I'm so pleased for you.
I've now been told that there is no longer such a thing as the 2we and hasn't been for 4 years. And due to the hospital having a radiographer shortage I'll be seen within 28 days from my referral date. The lady who called me was so rude and shitty on the phone like how dare I ring and question when I'll be seen. The problem is I go on holiday on the 3rd July for 19days so may not get seen at all until after holiday. 😔

Wow I’m so sorry you had to deal with that! Not what you need when you’re already going through a stressful time.
Unfortunately I was told the same by my GP at the time, 4-6 week wait with the NHS referrals at the moment. I was really lucky to have private healthcare so I ended up going private, I’m not sure if you’re in a similar situation to maybe look into that? It was through Check4Cancer but you can also just book in without a referral through there website too. I think if you don’t have insurance it’s £250 though for the appointment but might be worth you looking into if you’d rather get checked sooner?

hope everything goes well!

I’ve had four breast lumps. All were harmless cysts. The vast majority are harmless. Fingers crossed that yours is.

Infracat · 12/06/2025 08:26

Thank you.

Infracat · 12/06/2025 15:22

So theres no lump where I found one. But there was some shadowy tissue that showed on the mammogram and ultrasound. The radiographer said it could be fibro cystic breast tissue but she cant say 100%. So they took a biopsy and put in markers. The results will take another 2 weeks 😔

Summertimeflowers · 12/06/2025 21:44

Oh i’m sorry you have to wait some more @Infracatits absolutely the worst part about this whole process! Hoping the wait doesn’t feel too long and it’s all good, keep us posted!

No still nothing Confused I called them today and left a voicemail. Then I missed their call back so I've had to leave another message. I'm feeling sick about it.

Summertimeflowers · 24/06/2025 18:11

Oh I’m sorry you’re still having to wait! But I suppose no news is good news! Hoping you hear back from them soon 🤞🏻
