Spotting for ages after period

This isn’t a new thing but I’m fed up of it! I have a normal period lasting about 4-5 days then it starts to tail off but just doesn’t stop until cd10/12. So I get brown spotting for ages. I have a regular cycle of around 32 days and I’m 32 years old

Does anyone know why this could be?

Me too. I continually spot / have brown discharge and have to wear a liner until ovulation then it stops. Have no idea why, but it’s been like this for years so normal for me too

Same here. Exactly as you describe, been going on about a year and half. Sometimes my period stops for 24 hours on day 3 and comes back on day 5 too. I’m 41 and thought it was maybe hormonal but blood tests are normal. I’ve had a scan and nothing found, also had a hysterscopy and told everything looks normal. However, I had my period as usual after hysterscopy and the spotting didn’t happen! Hysterscopy is a small camera into the womb via the cervix. It’s made me wonder if there was something blocking my cervix and my period was taking ages to come out (hence the brown spotting for a week after). I haven’t had chance to speak to my doctor about it yet but will update when I’ve spoken to him.

I have the opposite: 5ish days of spotting before every period. It's been happening since I was about 37. I put it down to perimenopause.

@Everything0Everywheremakes sense. Spotting before period is usually caused by low progesterone and progesterone gradually declines in perimenopause whist estrogen is eratic.
