Could this be perimenopause symptoms ?

im 42 (43 this year) my periods have become shorter in length each time but very heavy (I was out for walk with super tampon in and it bled through my jeans) last period, but I only have one heavy day.

i had a period about 14 days ago, prior to that my previous period was three weeks before that. Today I have period pain and I am sure I will come on later. Is this perimenopause symptom? I had a clear smear this year. I just have put it down to perimenopause but maybe I’m being naive and it could be something else?

also, why the fuck are we, as women, never taught anything about our bodies. I’m trying to research about the menopause but feel so overwhelmed by all the information!

It could well be, my periods became closer together and heavier in peri. But first I’d be asking for your thyroid, iron and B12 to be checked. Anaemia and hypothyroidism can make you bleed more, and it’s quite common for the thyroid to pack up at this age.
Dont ignore your heavy period, I did and ended up feeling crap with anaemia. I had a Mirena coil fitted to fix the bleeding, and I wish I’d had it years earlier.

Not for me. I just missed the odd one then two in a row, then normal again for months. There’s all sorts of changes including getting heavier and closer together but do check in as anaemia is a risk.

I think it's common for periods to become hap hazard. Mine became really heavy and I developed small fibroids which went away of their own accord. I did become low in iron which I thought was due to heavy periods not the other way round so that's interesting. I would say if it's beginning to negatively impact your life, talk to the dr. I left it too long and lived with far too much inconvenience .

Sounds like it, I'm 39 and sure I'm going through perimenopause. Periods every two weeks. Skins that's now so spotty after being clear all my adult life. Itchy skin, insomnia, anxiety, b12, folate, ferritin and iron deficiency. Sometimes feel so low when I've always been a very happy, positive person. Think il need to book a doctor's appointment and possibly get the mirena coil to at least deal with the period side of things.

Yes I would say. I’m 44 and periods all over the place. Had several bouts of two in two weeks. Heavier one time. Barely there light another. More pain than previously. Hip //back pain. Palpitations
it’s a wonderful time ☺️

Yes, it sounds like it to me. Periods were all over the place and got heavier and I got the mirena when I was 48. Oestrogel sorted out the palpitations.

My palpitations were caused by anaemia, righted themselves when I went on ferrous Fumarate.
