PMDD or PMD or just normal?

Just looking for other experiences that I can compare to my own and before I go to the GP and no doubt get told to go home and take paracetamol I wondered if my experience was normal or if this is potentially something more.

So every month in the week/ 2 weeks leading up to my period it starts with terrible anxiety, feeling like everyone hates me, I convince myself I am poorly and something is seriously wrong with me, I am snappy, irritable and just generally all over the place. Approx a week before my period I start getting extreme tiredness can barely make it through the day, nausea, diarrhoea and insomnia which makes my anxiety worse. I get hot flashes and feel like my skin is burning off, terrible headaches and honestly in the days leading up to coming on my period im just praying I come on as quickly as possible as the physical symptoms teamed with mental just have nearly done me in by this point. As soon as I have come on my period I start to pick up, my upset stomach persists though and I have the morning sicky feeling across the whole of my period teamed with diarrhoea and just generally feeling absolutely crap. I’m writing this at 4am have been up since 2am with a bad stomach and feeling awful, severely heavy bleeding and can only sit in one place comfortably with a hot water bottle. This all only started since having my daughter 1.5yrs ago and my periods returning after I stopped breast feeding so this is very new to me.

Is this normal for someone who’s had a baby? Or am I right to be asking my GP for some help?

Thanks for reading.

Aw, I didn't want to read and run. I have the same symptoms as you and really it sucks doesn't it. I think I've had this since my teens, either PMD or PMDD. My mum used to joke that when I was a young woman I'd leave either a job or a boyfriend at the time of the month! 😂
I'm 45 now though, so I suspect that perimenopause could be kicking in though I'm not 100 percent sure, as I'm on the implant which stops period bleeding. Like you though it worsened after I gave birth nearly 9 years ago. Anyway, to even out some of these mad symptoms, luckily I can now get HRT. I'm on a low dose of Femeston, which has really taken the edge off some of the symptoms. Not sure if you could do anything like that yourself maybe?

I didn’t get the stomach symptoms - but the feeling terrible & self harm in the run up to period like clockwork

I don’t have a formal diagnosis but currently am taking standard oral contraceptives back to back - have been doing it several years now and has given me such a lifeline

The doc is now debating what to do as I move into mid 40’s due to risk profile on the meds but I was struggling to function at work and at home without this
