I’ve been to GUM clinic today waiting for results but can take 10 days I’ve been dealing with thrush since December on and off went away with my partner and could feel it coming back being sore and itchy we tried having intercourse but I was too dry and 2 days later ive got this inside my vagina it’s so painful to sit , wee even wash is so painful the doctor said today it looks more like trauma from being dry than herpes but gave me the medication anyway for a precaution , I had all std checks and smear done end of April all was fine I’ll add a pic sorry for tmi what do you think it looks like? Been same partner 9 years confident enough saying we haven’t had any other partners

I’m going to say I had a DR say he thought I had herpes, I was in such agony I had to sit in a bath full of water to be able to pee, and I could barely sit down. Swab after swab was taken and herpes always came back negative but thrush positive, it was just horrendously severe thrush and it cleared up after a really extended prescription for thrush.

Did your partner get treated for thrush also?

If a GUM dr is saying trauma then I would be inclined to trust them tbh. I can’t see a picture anyhow, but the dr is going to be more experienced than most people on MN. I hope symptoms ease for you quickly. Flowers

It was just so red/inflamed/sore/split.
He was a (clearly awful) dr who had a GU clinic too. 3 or 4 separate swabs he took, over the course of several days, because they kept coming back negative for Herpes but positive for thrush. Finally, after the last swab, he gave me tablets for thrush and it started to ease within a couple of days. 🙄 It was years ago and I’m still mad about it.

If you are finding it so sore try using a barrier cream. Bepanthen nappy cream is a good one. It will protect a bit from stinging urine & also stop the skin sticking together and constantly peeling apart. Dap with the toilet roll, don’t wipe.
Definitely stock up on a good lubricant for your next attempt at intercourse, once you are fully healed of course. I hope it eases quickly for you. I know how miserable it is to be in such agony. I had to be signed off work for a week it was so bad.

I’m so uncomfortable, I can’t decide if it matches what I’m seeing herpes look like online I know it can present differently did yours look similar to mine or different? I don’t know if I’m in denial just don’t know how I’d of contracted it now after 9 years of regular intercourse with same partner

Have you changed toilet paper or pads? I have to use andrex gentle (pink) or I end up with the worst blisters and pain - it was the same with pads (I think it’s the fragrance 😡)

If it’s come back negative for herpes it is probably thrush, but wait for the GUM test results. Bathe in just water - no bubble baths or soaps. Thrush can be horrendous.

They said the results can take 10 days I started the medication as a precaution anyway hasnt seem to help in the slightest as of yet.

I’ve been in Dubai on holiday for 5 nights with my partner these come up the day I flew home (wed) and got my period same day they were different pads from boots but I’ve never stuck to one brand anyway I took a fluconazale on Monday for thrush I think the combo of warm weather , salt water and swimming pools/ wet costumes hasn’t helped my situation either
