Heavy bleeding after swimming

I had a termination for medical reasons (tfmr) 6 weeks ago at 17 weeks. No signs of infection and bleeding seemed to gradually reduce as expected.

3 weeks after I had some heavier bleeding and had a scan which showed retained products, I decided to wait and see if it resolves naturally and am due to be scanned again next week. No heavy bleeding since, until this weekend.

My question is - 3 weeks ago when I had the heavy bleeding I had been in the swimming pool for several hours several days in a row. And I’ve been swimming again a lot in the last few days and the heavy bleeding is back.

Any ideas why this might be? No signs of infection and I did have some antibiotics 3 weeks ago just as a precaution.

No comments about swimming before bleeding has completely stopped please - this most recent weekend the bleeding had (seemed to) completely stop before. And 3 weeks ago I didn’t want to let my kids down who were so excited for a pre-planned weekend away given that they were so sad about the loss of the baby.

thanks

Were you using a tampon for the pool? Just wondering if you've somehow irritated things?

No - using period swimwear

I'm almost at 4months from having a medical termination,iv not really stopped bleeding, been on and off whole time,iv been told it could be the pill that's mucked up my cycle but I'm due to go on holiday in 2 weeks and can't get a docs apt to discuss it as it's just really draining me now.anyone had this irregular bleeding for this ling after medical termination?

@Ang39scothace you had a scan to check for retained products? I’m 10 weeks on and mine have only just gone. If you haven’t had a scan ask your gp to refer you.

Saying that - even though I apparently no longer have retained products, I am still bleeding off and on. My GP has prescribed 10 days of provera to try to reset things.
