Hi,
In in my mid 40s and currently going through perimenopause. I have had two episodes of prolonged period bleeding (30 days). Saw a gynaecologist in Jan, had a transvaginal ultrasound. Cervix looked normal. No fibroids or polyps but thick lining and shrinking ovaries noted. Doc said I am definitely in perimenopause. I was put on the mini pill to curb the crazy periods. I was told it would take about 3 months for the body to settle with it. I had a mega bleed when I first started but since then, a month of no bleeding.
I then had a routine cervical screening in April. The nurse mentioned I have cervical ectropion, which surprised me as my gynae said my cervix was clear in Jan. Smear was two months overdue due to prolonged period I had. I was shocked to see a positive HPV result on my NHS app. I'm in a monogamous relationship and tested negative 3 years ago. But I've since read it can lie dormant. I have no idea if I have abnormal cells found too and need to ring the GP tomorrow once they reopen.
But wondering if anybody has had this combination of gynae madness and what they did to relieve symptoms? Thanks for any responses.
