Currently have a complex ovarian cyst on my right ovary. I’ve previously had two surgeries for complex cysts on the same ovary.
First surgery had to be done as an emergency converted laparotomy as it had grown considerably in a few months and ruptured. The second surgery was while living abroad so had monthly ultrasounds and it was removed laparoscopically.
I found out I had another complex cyst in February and currently awaiting a gynaecology referal. Radiologist said it would need to be removed. However, the last week I’ve been getting sharp pains (not unbearable) and what I can only describe as black gritty discharge. It’s also very tender to insert a tampon.
I haven’t received any follow up scans. It was 4.5cm at the last nhs ultrasound. However I did pay for a private ultrasound a few weeks prior and it had grown 1cm during that time.
I was wondering if anyone has had similar and how often was the cyst scanned on NHS (complex cyst not simple ones)? I’m debating on whether to pay for a private ultrasound again to hopefully speed up the process. I’m concerned it may grow too big and I will need another laparotomy instead of a laparoscopy.
Any advice appreciated!
