Unusual period

Before I had my children, my cycles used to be 28 days exactly. Since having my second child, they've gone from 27-31 days. No big deal. However, my last cycle was 37 days, which is highly unusual for me. I guess I could have just ovulated late, but I'm not sure why as nothing really changed. I thought I was maybe pregnant, but the tests I took at day 32 and 35 were both negative. I got my period yesterday, and it started off fairly normal, but today, I have already had to change my pad 3 times and even my trousers, and it's only 10:20. I leaked onto my pyjamas as well through the night. I have also been passing fairly big clots. My periods are usually quite light, I normally only need to change 2 or 3 times a day. And I never usually have any clots. Is this something I should be concerned about? Or maybe (hopefully) just a once off heavy period?

How old are you @Killerqueenie

Longer cycles, heavier cycles. Any other symptoms? I would see GP. Could be endo, adenomyosis (I was diagnosed with that post 2nd child) or even perimenopause depending on your age? Definitely see a GP if you’re concerned

Thanks for replying. Apart from the heaviness I didn't have any other symptoms. Not even pain really, just the usual cramping when it first came on. The heaviness only lasted that one day and has been OK since. I'm only 33 so thinking I'm too young for perimenopause. I will see what happens with my next cycle and get in touch with GP if it is the same.

No worries. I was told I had adeno as an incidental finding for spotting pre period. Apparently very common in women who have had 2 or more children. I don’t get any pain with it or any other symptoms, just a heavy period. 🙂 All the best
