Coming off desogestrel (mini pill) - what happened when you came off it?

Hi,
I've been on desogestrel (Hana) mini pill for over a year and l've bled the entire time ranging from light to heavy. I've decided it's time to stop taking it and go back to the heavy and painful but short periods, because I can't go on like this bleeding forever!
I'm just wondering did anyone have the same issue as me, and what happened when you stopped taking the pill? Did your bleeding continue? Or did it stop until your actual period came back? And how long til your period came back?

it’s been 2 days since I stopped taking it and I’m still bleeding :(

I’m also considering stopping this pill. However, I haven’t bled at all in the 1.5 years I’ve been taking it, so I’m interested to hear about other people’s experiences.

Have you spoken to your GP about alternatives if you’re looking to stop having a period? Prior to being on Desogestrel, I had two Mirena coils, which also pretty much stopped my periods.

Yeah sadly I can’t go on any other contraception. Can’t go on combined nor have coils and don’t like the idea of implant or injection especially if it’s going to cause prolonged bleeding! Hopefully you can find something alternative :)

I stopped last year to move to the implant. I hadn’t bled for two years. I had a small amount of breakthrough bleeding and that was it.
