I've got a BC. I've had them twice before, one turned into an abscess (24 years ago) and I had an operation to sort it. The last one was 4 years ago and I am unsure if I had it drained or marsupilised, but it took about 5 mins with local anaesthetic at a minor surgery centre.

It's come back, I noticed last week that it was there. Saw a nurse practitioner and was prescribed antibiotics which have done nothing. It stings. It also hurts when I walk around or cycle. When I saw the nurse she said because of my age (46) the guidance is to refer me but if I was happy with antibiotics to try these first.

I am feeling really sore and it's hurting, but doesn't feel as bad as the abscess did. Is there anything I can do to make it less sore apart from taking painkillers (already done that). I will do an consult first thing, but the nurse made it sound like a referral would take forever and this really hurts!!

Sit in a cool bath? Use cold pack. Go commando wearing a skirt round the house? No cycling. Take pain killers. I've had one. It's so miserable.
