I’m embarrassed 😞

Hi.
on the 12th April I went for a bowel movement and when I wiped and looked in the toilet there was ‘bright red blood on the tissue and in the toilet’
it did sting a slight bit but nothing major.

everytime I’ve been since, it has still bled, the blood is bright red which I’ve read is a good sign.
it doesn’t necessarily hurt or feel sore.. maybe a tiny bit, I’ve tried to have a look but I can’t see anything.
I have the worst health anxiety so I’m panicking!

I just went even for a wee, and still wipe blood from the back area.

I will call my GP tomorrow but should I be concearned I’m really panicking 🥹

Probably piles, not fun but you can manage them with otc stuff unless they're really bad.

Try not to worry and see your dr to confirm

No need to be embarrassed at all, I know it's easier said than done but the best thing to do is to ring your GP (tomorrow) and get it checked out. I had similar and it was internal haemorrhoids but the Dr was very understanding.

It could be a fissure? Which is like a small cut/split. I get it quite a lot, to the point it doesn't concern me. Not great but I wanted to share that for me bright blood isn't a scary thing, just uncomfortable and not at all ideal but a nuisance I deal with. A doctor will not blink at discussing it or examining you, as embarrassing as it feels

RunningJo · 15/04/2025 18:07

Yep, most likely a frissure if it’s stinging a bit.
Use the wet toilet wipes instead of toilet paper and put a small dab of sudocrem on there
It goes without saying that you should visit your Dr to be sure.

Go see your GP. I had similar blood with poo, and occasionally if I peed and they found a benign cervical polyp which was quickly removed. Had my last smear a year ago - no sign then and no real symptoms except for the blood when straining.

You could also speak to a pharmacist in a private room to get some creams/suppositories to help and if not easing, then see the GP.

More importantly though- what mental health support are you having OP? PLEASE speak to your GP or support team about your anxieties x

Possibly an anal fissure. They do smart a bit.

Dr told me if you have bright red (fresh blood) it’s certainly better than dark.

Treacletartfart · 15/04/2025 18:11

I’ve had this before. I went to the doctor and just blurted it out as I also found it embarrassing. He was soooo chill and said it was piles and gave me some advice. You can also try speaking to a pharmacist. Wishing you good luck & I hope you feel better soon xx

It seems to sting when I pass a bowel movement, I wipe the first time, there’s fresh red blood, I wipe the second and it’s gone.
I’ve never had this before and trying to get through to my GP is terrible! My anxiety is so bad right now even though it probably is nothing serious!
But when I see blood I panic x

I had this and went to the GP. It was mortifying as she did a physical exam but what I thought was piles turned out to be a couple of fissures and a skin tag. She prescribed a stronger ointment. It took a long time for them to heal and occasionally I get another little split but embarrassing as it was, the GP put my mind at peace.

SwanOfThoseThings · 16/04/2025 19:48

It's a common problem and the advice is always to see your GP - I'm sure they have looked at hundreds of bleeding bums in their career. It may well be haemorrhoids but needs to be checked so you can get the right treatment and just in case it is anything more serious.
