Is this normal?

Hi ladies,

I’m 45 and perimenopausal. Periods historically normally regular no pain. I’m now enjoying a multitude of delightful symptoms I suspect are linked to hormone changes, hip pain, caffeine intolerance, vaginal dryness, heavier but watery periods that last longer and are happening at shorter intervals.

For the last 18hrs, my tummy has been super bloated and uncomfortable, pain on the left hand side of my tummy and really tender. Thinking it might be ovaries as 10 days post my last period. Is this more recent addition normal? I have a pretty decent pain threshold but I’ve just bitten the bullet and taken some nurofen…

TIA

Could it be ovulation pain? It's not clear whether you mean you are 10 days past the end of your period or the first day of your period, but either way would you normally ovulate around now? Your description of the pain, bloating, duration, and sudden onset is identical to my ovulation pain, which started after having babies (never had it before). It's clear it can start randomly or in response to altered hormones, so just because you've not had it before doesn't mean you can't start.
In your shoes if it doesn't get worse I'd wait and see. If it disappears in the next day or so, and then doesn't reappear until the same time next month, you have your answer.

Thank you so much! Instinct is that it’s ovulation related (I m 10 days post my last period) and I’ll keep a note of the symptoms and timing to see if it reappears. Nurofen helped and it definitely eased up overnight (overseas atm) and tummy is less tender and bloated. Thank you for responding!
