Upcoming hysterectomy - to keep ovaries or not?

I'm having a hysterectomy in a few weeks, and need to decide if I want to keep my ovaries on not. Anyone had this done and willing to share their reasonings for keeping/not keeping their ovaries? I'm aware that taking them out will kick me into full-blown menopause straight away, but I've been peri-menopausal for a few years now with a lot of symptoms already. One of the reasons to have the hysterectomy is that I can re-start HRT to manage my symptoms (HRT was feeding my fibroid, causing it to grow and extreme periods/bleeding). I've been on Zoladex for about 6 months now, which shuts down your ovaries, so I'm wondering if removing them will be different.
On the other hand, I'm thinking why remove them if they haven't been causing me any major issues and I can manage the menopause symptoms with HRT?

I would always opt for keeping unless evidence of disease. Your body is not designed to do without them, even though they become less helpful 😀 I would worry removal will make things much worse.

Yes keep them even though you’re peri, go through the gradual reduction of hormones (with hrt) rather than full blown instant menopause. I kept mine and no regrets. The women on the ward who had full hysterectomy were in far more pain and had hot sweats during recovery
