Urine test

I’m going to try and attach a picture of a test I’ve just taken and ask any more experienced testers for their opinions please!
does this test imply there’s blood traces please? I’m not great at understanding the results.
ive been having discomfort for a while but not constant and not quite like when I’ve had infections before. I’m 44 so I suppose peri might be related but I do not know. Doctors here are a nightmare to get into. Thankyou

The bit that has the key on to say what each coloured square means is blurred.
Is the sample Nitrate positive? That’s a clear indicator of UTI.
Some pharmacists can prescribe for UTIs now, head to a large boots store and you could start a prescription today.

tingtangwollawollabingbang · 05/04/2025 15:16

sorry I did a terrible job there! The nitrate one seems ok, I’ll try and post a better picture. Thankyou

This one is clearer I think

Looks like blood to me. See your gp.

MrsBantry · 08/04/2025 07:40

Yes I'd say blood too and the top one for leukocytes (immune cells or white blood cells) looks mildly positive too (light purple). However make sure you are reading the strip within the time you are supposed to (read instructions). I'd say if you feel like you have UTI symptoms you very likely do have one.

tingtangwollawollabingbang · 15/04/2025 11:39

I got given three days of antibiotics which improved general flow but somehow now have more pain and urgency. Also visible blood so I managed to see a nurse today, she dismissed it pretty much as being a perk of a woman and threw her test strip after about ten seconds. I’ve just tested at home and got these results, to me there is still something there.
In fairness she has sent another urine test and now a swab off but that was a really disheartening experience.
basically told to pop some paracetamol as well

There are quite a lot of leukocytes there but I would say if the nurse has send a sample off that will give you a definite answer. It takes at least 3 days though to grow a urine culture.

tingtangwollawollabingbang · 15/04/2025 12:50

Thankyou that’s what I thought, hopefully something gets sorted out 😵‍💫it’s wearing thin now

Looks like a UTI to me. I’m a midwife but would definitely be sending a sample for cultures if I dipped a woman’s urine and it came up with this.

MrsBantry · 15/04/2025 16:29

@tingtangwollawollabingbang - that's dreadful that they dismissed you like that with evidence of white blood cells. I hope you get the right antibiotics soon. Be aware that not all bugs will produce the nitrates signal so if anyone tells you it can't be bugs because there is no nitrites tell them they are talking out of their arse! Bugs like Enterococcus don't make nitrites as part of their metabolism. XXX

tingtangwollawollabingbang · 15/04/2025 16:32

Thankyou both. I’ve had so many uti’s before and this just feels different, it’s very similar to a problem I had before but with extra features 😂
yes she was very dismissive 🙁

And now been asked to repeat the test right before the bank holiday 🤦🏻‍♀️that phone call resulted in me running through town with a jar of wee at 9am today.

MrsBantry · 17/04/2025 17:55

Oh that's annoying. Xxxx

tingtangwollawollabingbang · 09/05/2025 16:07

Well, if anyone is seeing this at any point with the same issues; I was given more antibiotics that also didn’t do anything.
finally saw a lovely GP and she has ordered an ultrasound and referred me to a urology clinic.
she also took another sample and has just contacted me to say there is no infection but there are white and red blood cells so need to repeat the test Monday.
discomfort and anxiety are not a good team! (I’m not saying I have anxiety, just that the situation is making me anxious)

I’ve been going through similar OP, on day 6 of antibiotics and still feeling sore but dipsticks clear. I’m younger than you so I’ve dismissed it but at 44 I’d be considering peri causing uti like symptoms. A lot of people on here have said about using vaginal estrogen gel which helps? Worth a bash?

im off to the doctors Monday I think. Wish it would go away. Good luck!

tingtangwollawollabingbang · 12/05/2025 17:36

Following another test im now having an ultrasound tomorrow. I admit the speed alarms me slightly but its good to be checked.
I’ve started having awful cramps and (so sorry tmi) slight leaking so im not having much fun! Roll on sorting the flipping thing out

Keep pushing, blood in urine is not normal and needs to be investigated every time. I was fobbed off with uti and ‘women’ explanations…and it has ended up a lot more serious. Please keep going back.

tingtangwollawollabingbang · 12/05/2025 20:21

Are you better now?
I will do, I can’t just live like this it’s awful now

OP posts:
samlovesdilys · 13/05/2025 12:14

I’m getting there but it’s taken most of a year, just keep pushing, ask to speak to someone else if needed, take care.

tingtangwollawollabingbang · 16/05/2025 16:20

Now been told I have strep b and given no more details than that 🤔it says online it shouldn’t be a problem but I’m having a lot of problems so I’m very confused.
more antibiotics

Hi @tingtangwollawollabingbang - I so very much hope you are feeling better now.

Previously, I did my own thread with my own horrible experience. I have just updated it and I thought that you or perhaps others commenting on this thread might find it interesting.
