Do I need to go to the docs with high blood pressure?

I wasn’t feeling well yesterday had pressure in my ears so took blood pressure and it was 165-103.

i had high blood pressure last year but I was also unwell and it turned out to be a virus, when I went docs they gave me a chart to take blood pressure over 5 days and it naturally came down over the 5 days as the virus went away. I suppose if it had stayed high they would have taken other action.

do I need to go to the docs on Monday or would I be better to just get the 5 days readings before I go and say go Wednesday or Thursday next week if it’s still high?

I did a further reading last night and it was 170-97 and this morning 167-95 so it’s not dangerously high where they say go to a and e but it says to see a doc.

I would firstly go on the BHF website and make sure you are following instructions on taking readings correctly, so many people don’t.
I would then take 3 readings am & pm, noting the lowest reading down each time, for several days and then see the dr with the readings.

Do make sure the cuff you are using is the right size, you don’t have a tight belt or waistband on and that you don’t need the toilet when taking readings. All can cause higher readings.
