Yes, I had it a few years ago. Best thing ever, and they've not returned.

shakeitoffshakeacocktail · 04/04/2025 16:50

I'm a year post op and it's the best thing I had done. No regrets. First ever surgery and GA
Not sure what it was called exactly but I had 1 incision at the groin approx 3 inches then 15 small cuts down the leg.

No pain from the medication aftercare. Day 1 at home was ok on strong painkillers. Weaned myself off on day 2 at home, felt weak and unwell, coming off the drugs.
From day 3-5 felt fine but slow on the leg. Had a walk everyday. After that all fine.

Surgical stocking and support stocking were uncomfortable but manageable.

I was 36

Ok I’m not under GA I’m having a different procedure. It good to know it was worth it x

Are you having the endothelial ablation and foam treatment ?

That is what I am having soon .
Would also love to know how you get on .
All the best for tomorrow 🤞.

The pain afterwards wasn't too bad. I went on holiday 2 days afterwards
My leg felt a bit heavy and bruised, but I was able to be fairly active. I had a light dressing over the incision points on my leg.

BigDahliaFan · 05/04/2025 09:37

To anyone thinking about it I’d say get it done sooner rather than later. One of my legs was markedly worse than the other, and that one was really quite painful for about 3 weeks and was still a bit uncomfortable at times for another month. The other leg was fine after about 3 days.

really glad I got them done though.

bizzey · 06/04/2025 13:51

Hi @Jmess ..how did it all go ?

Jmess · 06/04/2025 14:40

@bizzey hi
well it’s been ok ish since
the compression stockings are a bit annoying as I’m supposed to be putting Oestrogel and testosterone cream on legs daily.
The pain having the anaesthetic was worse than expected for the EVLA tbh
the scler foam part was fine.
Very relieved it’s done now.

Ohh glad you are on the road to recovery x

Had you taken pictures of "before" so you can compare to the "after " !

I think I might !!

I had the foam done in one big vein about 30 years ago and just couldn't believe the difference...(Didn't last unfortunately 😟)

I have had my letter through for my appointment and time (ekk 7.30 am )
I am now starting to believe it may well be coming true !!.

Jmess · 06/04/2025 21:52

I hope all goes well for you
I’ve been quite uncomfortable today but I can’t expect anything less I guess for a week x

Jmess · 07/04/2025 18:44

Did you have redness too?
my bruising is coming out but also my left leg is really tight and painful with some redness. I can’t walk easily and feel very tired

I can't remember too much as I was only mid 20's .
I think that is why they did it really as I was so " young" to have this bulging VV .

I can still remember the pain from the compression bandage though !

I was a fitness instructor at the time so had to keep moving.

Not looking forward to my Boa Constricta going back for a while...
But hey ho !

Wish it had been timed for winter 😂😂.

I used quite a lot of arnica and voltarol. It was hard to sleep so put my legs up on a pillow at night. Walked loads and if I sat it was with my leg out straight. Hope you are feeling better today.

If you still don't feel right give them a ring.

Hyperion100 · 08/04/2025 09:49

I had the laser ablation done about 5 years ago under general as they were pretty bad in both legs.

I dont remember being in much pain at all. The worst part was the Nora Batty leggings for a week.

They came back in one leg although not quite as bad. I wont bother doing it again.

Jmess · 08/04/2025 10:39

@BigDahliaFan I can’t walk very well my left leg is so sore and tight
I’m hobbling .
but sent photo off to see if I need antibiotics

BigDahliaFan · 08/04/2025 10:53

@Jmess that doesn't sound quite right. Hope you get it sorted out quickly.

bizzey · 08/04/2025 17:30

Have they ruled out a blood clot ?

Jmess · 08/04/2025 18:55
