Hi, coming here to try and stop the worry. I'm 37.5. I've recently been treated for a UTI and have been having recurring thrush for about 1.5 months which I've been given treatment for 3 times now. The last time was a pessary 3 days ago and have had SOME relief however it got to the stage where the skin was broken and bleeding down there. Along with this I developed what I think is a cyst on my vulva which seems to have a white head on it but I can't pop it. Along with this the skin surrounding is swollen and my peranium is also red raw. I told my midwife and she suggested sitz baths and that usually there is nothing that can be done but will have a look if there is no improvement. I am miserable because when I pee, it stings when the pee touches my peranium area. I've been having salt baths, tea tree baths, applying warm compress but today I needed cold which has provided some relief. I think I've lost a good bit of mucus plug today which has me worrying because I don't think the skin is able for a vaginal birth. I'm up all night with pain so then sleeping most of the day. I've never been diagnosed with an STI but google is coming up with all sorts. The lump is a little bigger than a pea, has a large white top not really the same as a pimple. The area around it as in the labia feels like there is swollen fluid on both sides and my peranium is raw and painful. Today I've stopped with the tea tree and canasten cream because there is just no improvement. I'm om day 4. Anyone with anything similar please? I'm thinking to go to an STI clinic but not sure if they will have treatment if its not an STI I just know they are used to looking at all sorts down there. I have been speaking to another midwife who said let the last pessary do its job as it could be the reason for raw skin so by tomorrow I should be able to call again but they don't seem worried at all. Last time I went to GP they told me to go to Maternity in future as I'm so far along in pregnancy.

This sounds awful and you have my sympathy. It could be hormone related. I developed reoccurring thrush during the later stages of pregnancy, and I'm sorry to say I had it for 3 years after, I couldn't get rid of it. It was miserable, I lived on the vagisil soothing cream. The doctors put me on a long term thrush pessary treatment after I had had enough (around 2 years later). I had to use 2 pessaries a week. If I stopped the thrush just returned, awful repetitive cycle it was.
I do hope this doesn't happen to you, the doctors swabbed me to see if it was a certain strain of thrush, and it was the normal thrush. It did however just disappear after using the long term pessary treatment for around 6 months. Never had thrush since (3.5 years later and counting).
