Face to face appointment after MRI - should I be worried ?

I had an MRI about 4 weeks ago.

Today I got a letter with a face to face appointment in 2 weeks.

If the scan was all normal would I have an appointment or a phone call ?

I have had cancer and got a call calling me in for an appointment at very short notice for those results (20 years ago) so am reassured I did not hear anything urgently.

can anyone tell me if there was nothing seen on scan and no treatment needed would I be called in for an appointment?

They would have called you in urgently if there was cancer. It’s possibly something like a cyst/fatty liver etc that they’ve spotted that needs discussion but isn’t urgent.

Thank you that’s what I thought.

I am reassured but still worried . Waiting is awful.

I would have thought if it was serious then they wouldn’t have waited 4 weeks to contact you.

My DD is booked in for an MRI and they arranged the face to face followup appointment during the same phonecall, so I'm thinking normal. They will want to talk next steps when all looks normal too, presumably!

I have had several MRI scans and each time I've had a follow up face to face for results. Every one of my scans were either normal or had "incidental findings" that were of no concern.

Like other posters has said, if there was anything of concern, the results would've been flagged much sooner, they wouldn't wait 6 weeks to see you again. Wishing you well.

Thank you it seems it is quite normal then. I have quite a few medical appointments unfortunately and a lot seem to be telephone ones since Covid. It made me anxious as I assumed I would not have to go in to be told all is ok.

I feel less worried now and agree it’s quite a wait for results. When I did have cancer my appointment happened within a week of the biopsy. I am desperate to know though I hate the waiting.

I sympathise OP. I had a scan a couple of weeks ago (only ultrasound in my case) as I could feel a few small lumps in my abdomen. GP said she thought they were just lipomas. Woman scanning said they seemed to be lipomas too and was very reassuring. Then I get a text on Monday asking me to make an appointment with GP to go in and discuss results. Trying to get an appointment is ridiculous so it's not until next week. If they're harmless lipomas then why waste an appointment on me? Could have told me the news in a phone call, so I too am now fretting. I would hope that the lack of urgency on yours means that it's not anything serious and wish you luck.
