Hysteroscopy Pain

I went for my hysteroscopy yesterday, i found this group & read some of your responses to the procedure that i took on board, the consultant said to take to ibuprofen the night before & 2 an hour before the procedure although i'd asked for General anesthetic, he said it was quicker if i had local. i had the painkillers also 1 diazipam as i was nervous. i went into the room they didnt put Local anesthetic in & started the procedure, Only my experience as everyone is different!!!! it was horrendous, the pain was excruciating & they had to stop although the Doctor didnt want to and asked if she could still remove the polyp & i would have to go back for the rest of the procedure under GA. I told her no and to stop!!! the same day they booked me to have a pre op in the afternoon, when i went the nurse said its a brutal procedure!!!! for me it definately was, so im on an urgent appointment wait within 2 weeks for General anesthesia. Please note everyone is not the same, there was a lady before me come out & she said it was just cramping & she'd had local, so i was fine going in then, but i'd advise asking for a GA from the start.

Well i had my Hysteroscopy yesterday!!! This time with GA , i work nights so worked the night before to save me thinking about it, when i thought about it my mind went to last week which was awful, anyway fast forward & all was fine & all done obviously never felt a thing apart from pain in recovery which they immediately give pain relief, i just cant understand why they attempt to save money IMO by just telling you to take pain killers before & not have a GA ,thats 2 wasted appointments just to see if you can cope!!! The only downfall for me yesterday was not the procedure, but apparently my heart went awol mid Op, artrial fibrulation, so had to be monitered & now they are fast tracking me to get the shock on my heart to reset (jumpstart) if it doesnt rain it bloody pours!!! well come to becoming 60!!! All the best to everyone due a hysteroscopie .xx

I had a gynae appointment yesterday where a hystereoscopy was a possibility. The doctor talked me through everything and said if she needed to do it she would give me local anesthetic, stop at any point I want to. She was very thorough and reassuring

I was a tad concerned they may want to do it without. My friend had one wfor polyp removal and said it was horrific

So hopefully they are finally listening and I thank those campaigning on women's behalf

I ended up crawling backwards off the bed begging them to stop, so I’m with you. I’m never again having anything like that without GA.
