Anyone with gynae knowledge? Bad cervix pressure and can feel a lump

Slight TMI incoming. I know this should be investigated by a doctor but I’ve got to the GP a number of times and been dismissed or they’ve said it’s something it isn’t.

I have been having pretty debilitating pain in my cervix/vagina specifically at certain times of the month. It’s HORRENDOUS during my period and quite bad at other times, possibly ovulation but I don’t track. It’s an intense pressure on my cervix. It feels very similar to birth - it literally feels like there’s something trying to get out and it’s pressing hard on my cervix. The other thing is, when I feel in there I am sure I can actually feel a lump, to the extent when I first felt it I thought I’d left a tampon up there, panicked and had my partner check and partner said there’s nothing there (there’s definitely no tampon had a smear test since!). I now can’t wear tampons, incidentally, because the pain is so bad I can’t walk if I do that. Which sucks cos I hate pads.

This has only been the case since I gave birth in august 2023, started when my period returned about 6 months later so a year ago-ish.

I had a pessary induction for my birth, then experienced serious neglect on the prenatal ward and was left with a non-progressing labour for about 20 hours contracting about 3-4 times in 10 mins (with no pain relief, yay).

I then did about another 20 hours with syntocin and gave birth ‘naturally’. I had a 3a tear, big postpartum haemorrhage. Then it turned out they’d left a load of placenta in there and was re admitted to hospital but it came out by itself. I don’t know if any of these details are relevant!

There was no cervical pain until my periods returned (apart from obviously from the tear before it healed and general postpartum pain, which was much milder than this).

The GP said they don’t think there’s anything wrong cervix wise. She wants me to be investigated for endometriosis but it doesn’t fit that at all. I don’t have any of the symptoms. Also I had fertility treatment so I’ve already been checked for PCOS, any issues with fallopian tubes or ovaries etc and it came back clear.

If you made it to the end of this well done and thank you!! Just wondering if anyone has had this or knows what it could be.

You sound like me! I saw a women’s health osteopath who specialises in after birth care and she diagnosed a prolapsed bladder - cystocele. Strengthening my core and doing hypopressives is helping me, but certain times of the month it does feel worse. Good luck

GP needs to refer you to gynae, if they won’t be firm and tell them you want a referral
