Painful periods for 14 yo

My poor daughter is really suffering with painful periods each month, to the point that she feels sick and is having time off school because she cannot function for the first few days. I've been to the GP who prescribed Naproxin (sp?) were reluctant for her to take them with her being so young and she's currently having tests on her heart because of other issues she's having.

To be honest I found the GP less than sympathetic and he didn't really listen to the impact it's having.

Do I take her back to see another GP and try to get a female who might listen more?

Does anybody have any tips to help her function each month.

My DD (13) has extremely painful periods, including vomiting. We’ve started using mefenamic acid which is incredible. As long as she remembers to take one as soon as she starts and keep taking them throughout then she has no pain. It’s a game changer for her - the excruciating pain has gone completely. I’d go back, you shouldn’t have too but I’d also go to a woman doctor or one that specialises in women’s medicine. Male GPs often don’t know their arse from their elbow with these issues.

Just wanted to update and say we finally got back in to see the GP, a female this time. Straight away she prescribed Mefenamic Acid, she actually questioned why the previous GP didn't do this. Fingers crossed she'll have a more comfortable period this month.

My 16 year old daughter, tried Mefanamic acid, but it didn't work very well for her, so she's just started on the contraceptive pill.
