Spotting between periods

Hi all,

sorry if this is a little long winded. I’m just looking for reassurance I guess in others who may have experienced similar.

I’m a 30 year old woman. I have two children. My youngest is 4 soon.

my cycles have always been long and then my period usually lasts for 7 days. However, very rarely irregular and are always part of a pattern.

in Feb I started to spot about two weeks before my period was due. It lasted about 3-4 days. At the time I was really sick with the flu and it was also the run up to my dad’s anniversary, so I put it down to added stress. My period ended up being a week late but then it came and it was fine. Lasted 7 days as usual.

5 days after it finished, I’ve started spotting again. It has been an exact month since the last time I was spotting.

I have been to the doctors twice now. The first time I saw a nurse who told me to watch and wait. She did an internal check and found about 3-4 napthorian (sorry if that’s not how you spell it) cysts but they’re only very small. About 3mm. However, I only found this out after reading my notes on my app. She never mentioned it. So I assume that’s nothing to worry about? The most she said is that my body is probably doing a reset after being so ill.

I saw a doctor the day after I wasn’t comfortable just watching and waiting. The doctor is getting me back for more thorough internal checks next week and is sending me for bloods and a scan on my pelvis.

my sister has PCOS and my mum and her mum also suffered bad periods.

despite all of this I am still so so worried. The only abnormal symptom I have is this spotting.

has anyone experienced similar?

thank you.

It’s not something I’d worry about, but like you are doing, I’d get it checked out.

Since I’ve sat and written it down it really doesn’t seem that bad but I guess when you get in your own head it’s hard not to worry isn’t it 🤦🏻‍♀️
