When Should I Get Concerned?

Hi all

I have been on and off hormonal contraception for years (depo, mini pill) and have never had a problem with my cycle / the frequency of my cycle.

I was on the depo since August 2023 after a pregnancy scare in the July. I’ve always wanted another child but the time didn’t feel right so took the appropriate steps (we were using condoms but I felt I should perhaps use a more reliable method). I have never had a problem on depo, it stops my periods but when I have come off it in the past my cycle returned to normal and ran like clockwork (I have always been very lucky in that sense).

Well I decided to come off depo after my last injection, and have been contraceptive-free since 31st Dec 2024. I have yet to see Aunt Flo. I know a side effect of depo can make your cycle out of whack for a few months but with me having normal cycles after depo in the past I am wondering if I should be concerned yet?

I am 32 in August, a bit overweight but nothing crazy (and actively losing weight - lost 11lb since the end of Jan). I already have DS who is 5.

If I go to the GP they’re just going to shrug me off aren’t they? How long shall I wait for AF to arrive before I get concerned? Came off contraception as wanted to TTC #2 this year.

is there anything I can do to kick start my hormones into gear?

thanks for reading and finishing - any advice would be much appreciated!

Honestly with depo it usually takes 6-12 months so I wouldn't be concerned. Give it at least 6 months.

I wish they would tell women this before giving it to them!

I'm 33 and due to come off the patch in June and hoping mine come back!
