Hemarhoids -can the GP do anything

Hello all - lovely one for you here.

I have a small hemarhoid causing me issues with painful walking etc. I've got so many other problems I just can't be doing with another one.

I've been using anusol cream and suppositories but no change. If I went to the GP can they prescribe anything more effective?

Thanks xxxx

They can prescribe a suppository and a cream but IME it doesn't get rid of them :(

Yes, I got prescribed a steroid cream after I had my first child. I didn't find anusol etc particularly helpful. The steroid cream made a difference within a couple of days.

Are you on some laxitives at the moment to make going to the loo easier, because each time you go it will aggravate it

Ive had anaesthetic gel prescribed once when I was in so much pain, or the cream scheriproct (not sure of spelling)

Yes, there are other stronger creams and suppositories that you can try, when I had a really bad one, GP asked if I wanted both and this was good and I finally got rid of it.

@Harbingersofboom this is my specialist subject 😂 I have a small family of them and they cause problems if I strain.

I’ve had lots of bum doctors check them and been prescribed GTN cream which I had to pay £50 for as not available on the NHS.

It numbed the pain and stopped the bleeding, they are still there but much smaller.

I have been told the best way to get rid is to have them removed by surgery, I’m not brave enough, so I make sure I never get constipated, drink lots of water and have a glass of prune juice.

I found the internal suppositories helped but never got rid of them, just shrunk them xx

I'm watching closely - just been prescribed Fybogel, Scheroproct cream and suppositories. My poor poor bottom is SO sore ... there are some downsides to weight loss injections and constipation is one of them Confused
