HRT and skin issues.

My GP has started me on HRT. My periods are still regular but my mental health has become extremely concerning. I suffer with PMDD and the GP thinks peri is making this worse.

So I’ve started patches. I’m on my second patch and an old friend I thought I’d left behind in my late 20s is suddenly coming back….

Bad skin :(

I already have two monster spots brewing in the deeper layer of skin. These aren’t the usual odd wee pimple. These things will require their own postcode when they surface fully. I haven’t had this issue for a long time. I had roaccutaine in my 20s to finally deal with it and sometimes the combined pill to keep it under control (then the GP said I’d been on the pill too long and my migraine history disqualified me from taking COC). However my skin seemed to have settled down and have only suffered with it again during pregnancy. Pregnancy seems to cause big flare ups but it always settles afterwards.

I’m wondering if the HRT is to blame?

I haven’t used hormonal contraception for 14 years. When I did I had a brand that’s also for helping with skin issues (Dianette or Yasmin). Both gave me huge painful lumpy boobs and headaches but I took the trade off because my skin was cleared up and my horrible skin was affecting my confidence and self esteem.

Am I going to have to suffer teenage skin again if I use HRT?
