Pre-cancer cells and now a 5 year wait?

Hi girlies,

not sure how to word this so I’m sorry if it’s a lot of info!!

I have my first smear, I had HPV and abnormal cells and was sent for a colposcopy. They took a sample (which was the main amount of abnormal cells) and sent it off. Later on they said it was okay and was mostly gone now. They then referred me back to having normal 5 year smears. I have family past of cervical cancer and am very worried waiting 5 years for another smear. Is it okay to push for a smear more recent?

Can you ask your GP to do it after a couple of years, and let them know why? Xx

I’m still on yearly smears after having abnormal cells. The cells cleared but hpv was still present at my last one.

Did your hpv clear? You may need to pay privately to have one if you’re clear.
