Mirena coil

I had the Mirena coil fitted today - it was uncomfortable but not too bad. She said they used a numbing gel inside before it was fitted. I was nervous so chatted away the whole time!

I just wonder if anyone has any experience they would like to share? I got mine due to heavy periods and I am on HRT but was told to stop taking the pills 12 days a month. I am glad about that as I usually forget!

I'd love to know when my bleeding will stop. Mine was fitted 2 months ago now and I've been bleeding every day since. Such a misery

Bless you. I had mine taken out at 5 months for the issue of continuous drip bleeding every few days and in June last year I grew convinced I’d hear a clunk whenever I urinated despite the assurance it was positioned great.
Removal was over in 10 minutes and that’s from someone out cold for 40 minutes when fitted but awake during removal to avoid another ga.

I saw the gynaecologist a couple of months later who fitted that coil who enlikened it to that of an unruly teenager. Ie the coil will settle when it wants, would not even guarantee settling at 6 months. His sales patter lost on me.

Never regretted removal and that coil going into toxic waste by a hospital who did fortunately believe in women’s rights finally. More trouble than it was worth. No one should live with a coil if they do not want it.

Thanks!
I did consider taking it out but coincidentally bleeding stopped yesterday. Hoping this is the end of it for me. If not, I will push for removal. I don’t get on with any of the other contraception methods and was sold the dream based on this being a more localised hormone.
