What the hell is wrong with my cervix?

I have had 3 inadequate speciman results now, from 3 punch biopsy colposcopies. Apparently it is due to the etropian seen.
What does this mean? Is it normal to go back a fourth time?

They've now decided to do a smear as well as the repeat biopsy (I'm guessed as back up, incase the biopsy goes wrong again)?
I last had a smear around 8 months ago before all of this started. I got referred based on the etropian seen, always had negative smear tests, so my referral was nothing to with that.

Anybody experienced similar?

Do you mean why are they sending you for biopsy? Or why are they failing to get a good sample? Do you have any other symptoms apart from the ectropian being seen at your smear?

Sorry for any confusion. I am bit stressed because I have just received the letter today, after anxiously waiting 3 weeks for the results. The letter says: "inadequate speciman due to the ectropian seen." It then says in bold "We would like to see you again in 3 months to repeat the cervical screening test, and the biopsy. It is very important that we see you again." I'm guessing the smear must be back up incase the sample isn't viable again?

I an confused as to why they keep failing, and if it is normal to be going back for a 4th attempt at the punch biopsy. If anybody reads this thread and similar has happened to you, please let me know. I need to put my mind at rest!
