I’m 35 with 3 children, conceived both in the first month of trying in case this is relevant. In the last few year my cycles have been a little erratic at times, with often over a month between periods. I posted before about spotting for around 3 days before my period, having a bleed for around 4 days and then a couple more days of spotting. This month I have no idea what is going on and it’s stressing me out, I started spotting on the day I was due on and am now on day 6 of brown bleeding with no sign of ‘normal’ red flow. I took a test this morning which is negative, and am taking measures to avoid pregnancy. The only thing I have done differently is I began ‘seed cycling’ and when I thought I was coming on started taking a tablespoon of flax seed, is this likely to have delayed anything. Would you bother with a GP appointment or just take a wait and see approach! I am feeling very stressed by it.

The start of perimenopause possibly? It might be that you're a bit young but it's not unheard of.

My perimenopause started after my youngest daughter (third child).was born and I was 38, so a bit older than you.

Could possibly be perimenopause, could also be a polyp which are common around this age. I've recently had scans because of brown spotting for days after my period and I've got a polyps. I've also noticed that my period seems to stop on day 3 and come back after a day. Apparently, polyps can sometimes block period flow and cause dark spotting before and after period. However, it's really common to have spotting before periods In perimenopause because of decreasing progesterone, but you're possibly a bit young for this (but it's not impossible).

I actually started properly bleeding today, so a good 5 days of spotting before my period actually started. Normally I have around 3/4 days of spotting. I’ll try and get a GP appointment at some point!
