Endometrial ablation

Hi I had endometrial ablation yesterday, I was expecting to be bloated but lastnight I couldn’t sleep due to bloating and wind and then today I managed to get a few hours sleep and when I woke although I didn’t feel like I needed a wee I thought it had been a while since I last went so I went for a wee and my body was stopping myself from weeing as it was hurting that much. It wasn’t stinging or burning it was a very strong pain in my upper stomach and I could hardly walk back to sofa.

is this normal has anyone else experienced this?

That sounds very uncomfortable op. You have my sympathies.
I had an ablation about 10 years ago. My memory was that the bloating/gas took several days to resolve, and it was painful through my abdomen and chest up to my shoulders. Well away from the actual operation area. So your pain in your upper abdomen might be gas-related, rather than bladder-related? Obviously being unable to wee due to the pain is not good, and needs attention.
I had a lot of lower abdominal pain which I found hard to cope with. I had a tubal ligation at the same time as the ablation, and I think that was the biggest source of my pain. I rang the follow-up/discharge phone number and went back into a day unit for a review and extra pain medication. It was very reassuring. Hopefully there is the same service now. Good luck

I had my tubes clamped at the same time and my 6 hour discharge became a 3 day stay on a morphine drip.

Was worth it though, got my life back!

Yes it’s very uncomfortable, I’ve rang the ward and got some reassurance that it’s all normal and as long as I am weeing she said it’s fine because sometimes it small amount sometime it’s more. She recommended peppermint tea for wind so sent hubby to shop for some and manage to drink it but it was disgusting 🤢 lol
