Thought I'd drag them out the cupboard as I have one of those GP health assessments next week.

I'm 12 stone. Bloody weird because last time I tried them I weighed 11.7. That was 4 months ago though.

For ref: I'm 5 ft 8. Aged 61, But the weight is solely round my tummy. I'm actually happy with the weight I am, it's filled in some of the lines and wrinkles.

Are they going to tell me to go on a diet? Really can't be arsed. Did all that when I was younger.

Bit fed up really.

I know they have their charts etc and I know that carrying weight in that area is a risk but, in all honesty, would you bother trying to lose if you were me at this stage?

I'm 69 and a stone heavier than you and an inch shorter. I don't actually care if im a bit heavy. I probably should but I feel healthy and have no health issues. I have done the smart bmi calculator which takes your age into account and that says my weight is OK for my age. I might be delusional but I think I look OK too. I'm an hourglass shape and don't have any trouble finding clothes to fit. Whenever I've been for a gp health assessment they don't mention my weight. Probably because the nurse is much bigger than me. If you are happy I wouldn't worry.

@Anna713 ooooh thank you, I feel exactly the same.

I'm looking at a box of Roses right now. I'm going to eat the lot, well almost.

I think at our age health is more important than your shape plus, a little bit of padding is no bad thing anyway

I’m your height, 32, 9 stone, great shape … totally bloody miserable though and my life kinda sucks so I’m not sure weight matters a huge amount! Honestly think being happy matters so much more xx

@cookingthebooks I'm so sorry to hear that. Hopefully things will get better for you ❤️

I am 55 and 12-4 and less than 5ft. Sooo difficult every year starting a diet when work is so stressful x

LightCameraBitchSmile · 28/01/2025 21:18

Why would you be chastised for being, what 3 pounds overweight?!

twiddlingthumbs69 · 28/01/2025 21:23

@LightCameraBitchSmile not sure I would be apart from carrying it all around my waist which seems to be a no no.
Anyway it's their fault. Last time I went they told me to stop smoking, which I did and promptly put on 2 stone!

I'm 5.7 and weigh 12.8, also 60. But have decided to bring it down a bit. I don't need to be the same as when I was 20 but I do feel a bit over weight. It's very hard as you get older to lose it though. Plus there's a trade off and if you lose too much you look haggard. I'm doing a calorie deficit, hence my new name.
