Pelvic pain

Hi all
I've had issues with pelvic pain for years on/off. I'm currently having strong pelvic pain on the right side on my pelvis, it's a consistent dull ache.

I'm currently on antibiotics for PID. However, all my swabs came back clear so I'm not sure if this is a precautionary measure.

The pain/discomfort has increased the last few days, which makes me wonder if it is PID when I'm taking antibiotics and it's gotten worse. Any suggestions?

I will be ringing the doctors tomorrow morning anyway.

Thanks in advance x

I have had this and in my case the cause was endometriosis. It’s not picked up on swabs or blood tests.

Any pain that is cyclical in nature and or gets worse up to and including menses should be checked out to see if endometriosis is present. It’s usually diagnosed via laparoscopy which is a keyhole surgery op.

Your GP should refer you to a gynaecologist. Do not take no for an answer. You may also want to keep a pain and symptoms diary if you do not already do this as this will give them clues. You will need to be persistent in order to get answers.

I had this a few years back after a miscarriage. Gp sent me for ultrasound ... nothing found.

Fast forward 7 years. Frequent pain on right side around ovulation but would go away. Periods were getting worse, to the point hurt to walk for 3 days. Then one day hurt really bad on my period I thought was it appendicitis. Went 111 was treated for uti for a month. Then went a&e next period and they said it was gynae. Referred back to gp for ultrasound.

I got private one. He saw Adenomyosis and endometriosis from an ultrasound. When I went for the nhs one.... they said thickened lining of womb... and wanted me to do it again in 6-8 weeks!!! Luckily private one sent results to gp and Recomended referral to gynae. This takes 22 weeks. I went private as was affecting mental health as getting no where for proper answers.

Had MRI, diagnosed stage 4 endo with bowel involvement. Just had hysterectomy and excision surgery. If I was left to wait on nhs I'd still would have seen gynae by now god knows what state I'd be in.

Makes me so mad. Please be persistent with gp to see gynae as endo doesn't always show on ultrasounds ( funny how it did on private one not on nhs one).

Think there's a template on endometriosis.uk you can take to your doctor too if you go on their website.
