Ovarian cyst advice?

Hey guys,
just wondering if anybody has any experience with ovarian cysts? I’ve had mine for a very long time now and seems to have got bigger since I have birth. I’m now scheduled to have it taken out this year at some point. Has anybody else had a cyst that never went away and has surgery? Thank you 😊

Yes i had an 8cm ovarian cyst that was first discovered during pregnancy, they opted not to remove during my c section and wanted to wait and see. The pain from it was awful, had surgery to remove it and for my endoemtriosis also! Mine was causing a lot a lot of pain and consistent bloating like I was still 6 months pregnant! So much better since having the surgery. Hope it goes okay for you!

@Everestisthebest hey! How did you feel after surgery? I’m quite nervous about mine. Did they say your cyst was pregnancy related? Mine is around 12cm now x

I was in a good bit of pain for a while after my surgery but I also had a mirena coil fitted so I had a lot done! But after about a month the pain subsided and i felt so much better. That was almost a year ago now and it has made a huge difference

@Everestisthebest that’s good to hear then! I’m currently having abit of a scare with mine, they mentioned the possibility of having a cancerous cyst I don’t think it is because I’ve had it for 6 years. They’ve done blood tests for it which clear. Did they ever mention anything like this with you?

Yes they were concerned at first and referred me to have it checked urgently as it was a complex cyst but it was all fine. 12cm is quite large! Have you had any pain with it?

Kayannie123 · 25/01/2025 12:45

@Everestisthebest yeah mine is complex. I’m quite scared about it really. Yeah I do get occasional pain nothing major. What tests did you have done can I ask?

Yes.
I had my ovary removed along with a 10cm solid mass attached to it, then more normal cysts removed from my other ovary while leaving that ovary in place.

(they wernt sure if they could save that ovary they saved, i went in knowing I might come out of theatre in immediate surgical menopause)

My operation was almost done as an emergancy when I had ovarian torsion, but in the time it took to be admitted and get to the ward etc my ovary had "untorsioned" itself so it was done urgently 2 weeks later.

Mine was done like a cesarian with a pretty long cut, about 8 inches long. They wernt sure of they would be able to cut me like a cesarian, or if they would need to get from top to bottom (which is more painful and slower to heal apparently)

I was in hospital for 2 nights, and went back to work 7 weeks later.

22 x 19cm cyst removed a few years ago. Long surgery but glad it was done.

Mine was a Granulosa Cell Tumour. This is a rare, slow growing, form of cancer.

Kayannie123 · 25/01/2025 21:56

@Mooosewoman hi did you have any blood tests taken? I’ve had 3 blood tests for cancer and all came back clear

I had a dermoid one taken out last year, long recovery, more than I was expecting but ok now. Blood tests were clear and so were the tests done after surgery - thank goodness.

Kayannie123 · 25/01/2025 22:28

@LoafofSellotape hi that’s good to hear! Mine is fluid filled one, I’ve had 3 cancer blood tests all clear. Hoping the test after will be okay 🤞
