Hi guys,
im just looking to get some advise. Have anyone else had an ovarian cyst? I’ve had mine for around 6 years now and since I’ve been pregnant it’s grown quite a lot. I’ve seen the gynaecologist a few times to have it monitored. I’m now at the point where the cyst has grown quite large. I’m feeling abitworried now because the gynaecologist I’ve seen today has mentioned you can can’t rule cancer out due to the fact that’s it’s been growing. I told her that I have been told by other people that’s been growing due to the pregnancy hormones. The first gynaecologist told me it’s not cancer so I’ve never been worried until now I’ve seen this doctor today. Has anybody else had a similar experience. (Booked for op have cyst out today) she’s ordered a blood test and it’s says LFP which I’ve googled it and it’s for cancer testing. I have the cyst for 6 years now so surely if it’s cancer I would certainly now about it now. Any advise 😩

You can have a cyst for years but it’s not malignant from the outset. And I’m sorry but the only way to tell if something isn’t malignant is to have a biopsy done. Knowing what I know now I would insist on being referred for further investigation. Not because I think you have ovarian cancer - just that all ovarian cysts should be investigated an no one should be telling a woman something isn’t suspicious until tests have been completed.

Have you had a C125 test done? You can Google it but there is a form of ovarian cancer, Mucinous ovarian cancer, that can give test results that are only very slightly raised and it can be misleading for Drs to say - oh your count is very slightly raised above normal and not suspicious. Again I’m not suggesting you have ovarian cancer but after my life experience I know only too well that it’s the Cinderella of women’s gynae cancers and people need to know how to advocate for themselves.

It’s a really scary time of it and nothing anyone tells you will make you less scared. Look after yourself and all the best. 💐

@Weepixie hi thanks for the reply, I appreciate it! Yes I had the ca125 test which was clear she’s now doing a LFP test so I’m now waiting on that

If anyone medical had thought it was possibly cancerous, they'd have whipped it out years ago.

Ovarian cysts are incredibly common, including ones that grow. The vast vast majority of them are benign. Your lastest medical person is arse covering
