PCOS symptoms

Hi, I suspect I may have PCOS but obviously without testing I won't exactly know. I'm curious to know if you have it what are your symptoms and how did you get a diagnosis?

My symptoms are:

  • very hairy, I am hairy head to toe I need to shave everywhere. I have thick black hair on my buttocks and back. I have to pluck the odd hair on my chin and chest. I have to use a face razor for my face for peach fuzz but also I have a few black obvious hairs on my face. Also shave fingers and toes (literally everywhere)
  • I'm pre diabetic.
  • been over weight my whole life and really struggle to lose it.
  • oily skin

However the most 2 common symptoms I probably don't have. Which are irregular periods and infertility.

I would say my periods are regular? 27-31 days & I have a baby who I had no problem conceiving (took 6 months but I just came off birth control)

I would like to add im 20.

I've also heard light periods can be a sign. My period has always been light and usually only lasts 3-5 days

@worriedagaln Hi a lot of women have PCO symptoms but not nesc the syndrome it can really vary between women

to be diagnosed with the syndrome you need I believe less than 9 periods a year, higher levels of testosterone on a blood test and cysts on ovaries on a scan

I am 35 and was told when I was in my mid 20s I probably had it , have had several scans and blood tests since and all my scans have shown cysts on ovaries but sometimes my blood tests have shown normal hormone levels

my main symptom were adult acne and long cycles , I do have hair on my chin which I laser but I don't struggle to lose weight when I diet ( have lost almost 3 stone )

Infertility isn't nesc common symptom of PCOS and a lot of people seem to think if you have PCOS you are infertile this is simply not true, I have been pregnant several times.. it can make it harder for some women to conceive yes but this is not the case for most women.

If you are worried go to the doctor for blood tests but they need to be done on a specific day of your cycle to be accurate

I was diagnosed after having both ovaries removed- not for PCOS ha! - it was incidental.

I was hairy and had greasy hair but I wasn’t overweight so I think symptoms can vary.

go to the GP to discuss and hopefully you can have bloods taken .
