Mirena coil question

Yuja · 12/01/2025 15:39

I've had a mirena coil in since Oct 22 - apart from an awful insertion I've had no problems with it. For a few weeks now I've had tender breasts which I haven't had at all on the coil - although stayed the same rather than getting worse. Today I've had some mild period-like cramping in my abdomen and some slightly odd mucus coming out of me (sorry tmi)
I've been waiting for this to pass but doesn't seem to be - could this just be hormonal changes (I'm 39) or is it something of concern? Can things change when on the coil? Thanks for any experience/advice

My first thought is to do a pregnancy test

Agree with this you can still get pregnant with the coil

Ohh i didn't even consider that 😕. Will do a test and hopefully rule that out

Yeah pregnancy would be my first guess. Make sure if it is then you speak to the early pregnancy unit as with a coil ectopic is much higher risk
