Help with period pain

Hi all,

Hoping for some new ideas to help manage period pain or advice if you’ve experienced similar please :)

I’ve always had bad cramps which were manageable with ibuprofen. I had 2 miscarriages in 2023, one which needed medical management, and since my periods have returned they’ve been progressively worse. Awful cramps (almost as bad as the miscarriage), pain down into one of my legs, diarrhoea, sickness. I’ve also noticed more clots than before, have continued TTC but no further positives.

I take nuramol every 6 hours but it doesn’t give any relief. The only thing that helps is being in a hot bath - however I can’t stay confined to the bathroom for a few days each month! It’s really impacting my work and day to day life. A friend suggested buscopan alongside the painkillers but unfortunately this doesn’t help either. I’ve tried a tens machine and no luck there.

Looking for different suggestions to try or any recommendations.

Thanks.

You poor thing. My daughter suffers similar pain and says Naproxen is fab. Prescription only so hopefully GP can help.

Ginger tea, fresh minced ginger tea spoon in boiling water ( cup/ mug), honey to taste if needed, unknots cramps, drink, as hot as you can
