Has anyone been diagnosed with a benign ductal adenoma (a type of breast tumour)?
I found a 1-2cm lump early last year which they scanned and biopsied. I’ve had scans before but this was particularly stressful because the nurse told me she had no idea what it was, had never seen one like that and was worried (just before leaving me in the room on my own for 20 minutes whilst she found a consultant).
They were supposed to call me with the test results but instead I got a letter several weeks later to say it’s a benign ductal adenoma (google told me it’s pretty rare and usually in over 60’s (I’m 41)).
The letter said to get back to them if it grows. Anyway, it has..
It used to be tricky to find but now I can see it sticking out when I lie down. I’d say it’s about 4cm diameter now. I have an appointment with the GP on Thursday but I wish they’d just refer me for a scan instead to hurry things up.
Because it’s rare I can’t find much online about them. I don’t know if they can become cancerous.
Has anyone had one? Does anyone know if they’ll want to remove it?
I’ve recently started a new job so I’m worried about down time if I do have to have surgery.
