Pink/brown discharge exactly one week after period ended?

To be concerned?

I'm 43, smear test within last year, no hpv detected.

Also had a polyp removed from uterus about 6 months ago.

Just a little bit worried as whilst I do have dark discharge before or after period, a week after end of period seems excessive.... and I'm a worrier!

I've been experiencing this for a year now. One month my period stopped on day 3, came back on day 5, followed by a week of dark brown blood (only tiny amounts). It's happened every month since. I've had a TV scan that showed a small intramural fibroid, everything else was normal. I was referred to gynaecology and he said the fibroid is too small to be causing these symptoms so I was sent to coloscopy for a closer look at my cervix. Doctor said my cervix was fine, didn't bleed on contact etc. He didn't even bother doing a biopsy because there was nothing to see. All previous smears were normal too. He said it's likely hormonal due to my age and has offered the marina coil as it will stop the bleeding and the progesterone keeps the lining thin in peri.

I have been so anxious over this for months on end so hope I can bring you a little reassurance. I'm also 41 but struggled to find many others who seem to have this problem so it was really concerning to me. I have read that it can be due to low progesterone. If you're worried though, speak to your doctor.

Thank you xxx

I do have many many fibroids actually so maybe it's that.

The gynae offered to put the mirena coil in when removing a polyp under GA but I said no because I suffer really bad vaginismus and it would be difficult to remove it. He's said if I carry on having issues it'll have to be a hysterectomy.

I've had brownish discharge about a week after my period starts, then mid cycle for probably 2-3 years now. Went to GP, smear and ultrasound were normal. Referred to gynaecologist and had an awful appointment where they did a biopsy but nobody actually sat down to discuss anything with me. Biopsy all clear and I've been discharged.

It frustrates me as I do still worry about it as I don't feel it's normal. I'm 41, have endometriosis, although only know as it was detected during childbirth. I did read that could be the cause but don't know a lot about the condition as thankfully I don't have any pain etc from it.

Fibroids can definitely cause spotting after periods as they can block blood flow and also prevent your uterus from contracting properly. I'm still a little suspicious that my fibroid could be causing it (although doctor said it isn't) as it's a really common side effect. I don't particularly want the coil either, but it's the only thing he recommended. You might find this only happens one cycle.
