Problem under breast -GP?

BrightLemonSnail · 30/12/2024 07:43

Hi. So last night I noticed a small red lump under my breast. It wasn't painful and I assumed a boil. This morning I woke up and the red has increased in size big time. Also a different kind of rash next to it and one also on the front of my breast the same. I don't like to waste GP time but wondering what it all is? 🤔

Yea, that needs seeing today. I wonder if it’s shingles

YesExactlyYes · 30/12/2024 07:47

I would suggest getting it checked out by the GP. I've had something similar before and it turned out to be a yeast infection, but you need to know what it is to get the right treatment.

WolfFoxHare · 30/12/2024 07:48

It looks like an infection to me but you should see the GP - they won’t think you’re wasting their time, breast issues need to be investigated.

Oneearringlost · 30/12/2024 07:53

DEFINITELY GP, or minor injuries OP.

It could be Mastitis, secondary to an infected spot or similar, but it looks hot and red and is spreading. I don't think that's a different kind of rash next to it; I think its the same and its spreading. Are you feeling generally unwell? ie, temperature, chills, aching?
I would imagine it would need antibiotics but get it seen ASAP.

Thank you for such quick replies. I will book in when the surgery opens. That odd circular one is also on the right side and climbing upwards, maybe another 2 inches. I don't feel unwell thankfully (other than it all being a tad sore) just pressure in my forehead sinuses and some sneezing which feels like my normal allergies

Well I had a call back and they said to put a warm compress on it and call back if I feel unwell. Given it came on overnight it's too soon to see me and it'll likely clear up on it's own if I don't wear a bra, keep it clean, dry and hot compress it. So cyst I guess 🤷‍♀️

Draw around the red area. If it’s spreading call the GP back or go to a walk in centre.

BrightLemonSnail · 30/12/2024 10:48

OK I'll do that, thanks 😊

Great advice from donningmyhardhat. Im sure it will clear up but please do keep an eye on it x

Oneearringlost · 30/12/2024 12:13

I'm a little concerned with that advice given your phito of it and the rapidity with which it has spread, ie, overnight. Did you/ can you post the picture to 111?

Oneearringlost · 30/12/2024 12:14

Yes, definitely draw round it.

Oneearringlost · 30/12/2024 12:16

Oh...I've misunderstood. Is the 111 hot compress advice just until you are able to get an urgent ( today) GP/ walk-in appt?

BrightLemonSnail · 30/12/2024 15:12

The advice was from the surgery. I spoke to the surgery receptionist this morning and had a ring back from a Nurse who asked me to describe it. They said they didn't need to see me unless I feel unwell because it hasn't had chance to clear up on its own yet and I should try a hot compress, no bra etc. It was because it was so new she told me to try the basic at home remedies first and call back if it's giving me any problems. It isn't moving outside the lines so I think it is just a large cyst. Maybe they see a lot of under boob cysts?? 🤔 😆

If l showed you mine.. it might help. I have about 10 on each breast.. they are cysts.. some burst.. some are deeper.. l.could have some taken out ( was offered this) but they come and go.
Hope it's nothing more sinister..

Do you find they come and go with your periods? I did some reading on breast cysts today and noticed it said they can be linked to hormones. I went 11 months without a period then not long ago had one that lasted 3 weeks. 10 days off then I was surprised to find I'm back on again today. I wonder if it's connected being on again today also. The squidgy bit on mine is quite large, I hope it doesn't burst 🤢I'm hoping the hot compress it will all drain back into the tissue. The nurse said it may do that and not burst🤞if the one on the left is separate that's 2 overnight, if they are all connected it's one heck of a cyst! I still feel perfectly fine though and it seems to have stopped spreading. You say 10 on each breast, so it could be more than one at the same time?

I'm 66 and had total hysterectomy age 38.. so no idea about periods/ hormonal unfortunately.
Breast specialist l saw...( l had mammogram and scan) .. said just one of those things.. and didn't need a biopsy because just showed cysts.
I do tend to get more sore ones after I've been swimming..( l don't have a bath ..only a shower).. also l spend a lot of time abroad in the sun.. this is when they seem much less and not weeping or anything and much better.🤷‍♀️

ReadyforSpringNow · 30/12/2024 16:25

Sometimes l have more.. sometimes less..some have disappeared but left pock marks.
Some new bigger ones when they come.. l do squeeze if painful... blood spurts out then the white stuff.
