Pain in lower abdomen and burning sensation when urinating. I just as you would thought it was a water infection. Went to see my GP, she didnt do any type of examination, just asked for a sample, said i would need to make an appointment at the sexual health clinic for tests!

Presumably she didn't suggest the sexual health clinic for no reason but as a result of your conversation and the sample dip,?

Did you see an actual GP? This sounds like a physician associate, you’ve described barn-door UTI, get back on to them and ask if who you saw/spoke to was a qualified GP (or ANP). I would not see a PA.
Fair enough asking for a urine sample but treatment should not be with-held pending results. This is how women end up with embedded UTI’s which are a nightmare to treat.

Presumably if the sample comes back positive they’ll prescribe you anti biotics for the potential uti? Although I thought they could test for that straight away as they have done for me.

If you want sti tests then yes you’d often need to go to another clinic

@CarpetDiem

Yes it was a GP, although not my regular one. Thats exactly what i thought, its very unlikely i would have an sti, but she seems to want them to do those tests! Would you carry on with the appointment i have made, or call the GP, ive not really questioned them before.
