Bladder prolapse

WhereIsMyPhone · 18/12/2024 18:03

Hello, I was diagnosed with a mild bladder prolapse last year - grade 1 ( still waiting for physio )

very very irresponsibly two weeks ago I lifted an extremely heavy package, and didn’t feel quite right inside my abdomen immediately afterwards. Fast forward two weeks and I’m on my second lot of antibiotics for suspected uti .. burning pain, bloating frequent urination etc etc however I’ve only just thought to actually look down there with a mirror and low and behold I’d say I have given myself a definite grade 2 prolapse by lifting that bloody heavy package.

the thing is, I’ve got all over abdominal tenderness and pain ( even a lot higher up in the abdomen, not just lower like you would except with a uti.. the pain is quite similar to period cramps but all over. I’m very tender and also experiencing (sorry tmi) diarrhoea every time I eat - whether or not this is the antibiotics I don’t know.

and just now after going for a wee I have noticed very light pink spotting when I wiped and in my underwear.Period isn’t due for ten days or so. Think the antibiotics have helped a bit regarding the burning and needing to urinate every ten mins but the whole abdominal tenderness and odd feeling is quite irritating to say the least.

hoping to see the Gp at least before Christmas! Does anyone think all these symptoms are from the prolapse or maybe the antibiotics?! I just don’t know and I am worried, thank you ❤️

I know no one is here at the moment but the bleeding is slowly getting worse and I am really hoping it is just my period that is very early 🙁

I'm here. I also lifted a heavy package recently and think I just worsened my bladder issues. I'll have to see a GP at some point.

But if I had your symptoms I would be asking to see a GP ASAP. I would be concerned that there was something else going on beside the prolapse. Push to get an appointment.

Singasongofsixpence24 · 19/12/2024 00:29

I'm sorry I don't have any experience of this but I think if it is getting worse you need to ring NHS helpline and look for advice. Especially now that you can see there has been a change after lifting the heavy package.

Going to call them at 8am 🙂 thank you. It’s awful isn’t it.

Very confused, I was diagnosed with a mild bladder prolapse last year by a specialist however during an internal exam today have been told by my gp that they can’t see one?! I have every symptom of a prolapse and it’s definitely got worse!
My muscles are weak apparently but no sign of bladder prolapse… feel like I am going insane and someone has to be right or wrong! 🤔🤔🤔 why would the specialist confirm one only for the dr today to say there isn’t one 😮 confused is an understatement 😀

Go and see a specialist, the same one or a second opinion as they are the experts in this area

baddayformeredith · 19/12/2024 12:51

Was the dr able to reassure you about your other symptoms?

WinterBird24 · 19/12/2024 13:26

OP I would urge you to see a woman’s health physio. Its less than £100 and they will help
you with managing your symptoms and condition going forwards. I have a uterine prolapse, which also pulls my bladder down and am still able to go about my day with the help of a ring pessary. The thought of suffering so much from just lifting a package sounds miserable - I didn’t think it at the time but I can even weight train in the gym without symptoms from my prolapse. The only thing I really can’t do is a star jump and high knees! But I can run.

is that because she examined you lying down? I have been told by a consultant and a separate doctor they could not “feel”’my prolapse - but i definitely have one as was symptomatic. Women’s health physio much better.

SpinningTops · 19/12/2024 13:30

Ignore the GP. Mine said she couldn't see anything. I asked for a referral to gynae. They diagnosed moderate prolapse and said they'd offer surgery if I wanted (I don't)

GPs are rubbish at detecting. My gynaecologist was brilliant and said no matter what they see they go on how the woman feels.

Thanks for the reply, yes they have sent another urine sample off to be tested and also she didn’t seem concerned about the bleeding she seemed to think it’s an early period but I have to keep a close eye on it and go straight back if symptoms worsen.

so still very much in the dark! Been waiting over 15 months for physio.

I am going to look into this right now. Have been waiting 15 months for physio and still getting nowhere. The gp even seemed hesitant when I asked if they could chase my referral. 100% agree a womens health physio is what I need and am more than happy to pay at this point. Bless you. It’s horrible isn’t it, and thank you for your response.

Forgot to mention the bleeding had a nice little ‘break’ while I was at the doctors and is very much back again. Sods law!

Hiya I'm sorry to read this, without sounding flip it's the sort of bloody thing that happens with me re different diagnosis with different GPS and then if course the bleeding stopping when you needed to show the GP.

I can't really advise but just to say I understand all the frustration and then the worry it gives you.

I guess seeing a private physio would at least give you a bit of clarity in what's going on?

Having straight answers unhurried can help cope I feel.

I've definitely read that pelvic exams are better in a squat position.
I expect all but pretty high grade prolapses can hide a bit lying down.

Don't take anything as gospel.

If you're cramping I'd definitely recommend ibs tablets. Tesco have 40 for 7 quid clubcard price ATM.

Regular paracetamol.

Xxx

Oh gosh you are lovely. Thank you! It is frustrating and its nice to hear from someone who understands.

yes a private physio looks like the best option right now!

yes to the squatting! It was in this position and with a mirror I was able to actually see whats going on! Makes me feel squeamish just thinking about it 😁

I have a tesco clubcard and am having a delivery on saturday so I will 1000% add some ibs tablets to my basket. Thank you so much for your advice and kindness. ❤️ Xx

I think I paid £60 to see a woman’s health physio nearly 5 years ago and have been using a ring pessary since. It’s amazing really - I used to wet myself everytime I tried to run and be uncomfortable after a busy day. Now I weight train and do boxing and running etc fine. I buy the pessarys myself for less than the cost of a prescription and just change them every 6 months.

Best of luck OP.

Wow that is a great improvement for you! I’m glad you have managed to sort yourself out and are able to do the things you enjoy 😊 This gives me lots of hope for my situation, thank you for sharing! ❤️
