Bleeding on the depo?

So I've just started using the depo injection contraceptive.. had my second shot last month and I've randomly started bleeding which has lasted almost two weeks now and doesn't seem to be stopping. Some days it's quite a lot, some days it's drips and drabs. But bright red. My periods were always irregular but never had a period last this long and being on the depo it's supposed to stop your periods so I'm really unsure and worried what's happening. I'm seeing a GP tomorrow morning, they've asked me to come in incase they need to 'examine' me. Can someone please give me some reassurance if you have been through the same? My health anxiety is off the charts. Thank you ❤️

Yes I had that on both the depo jab and the implant as they are the same hormone. Also on the mini pill.

Good to go and get it checked out but it's a side effect that people do get sometimes unfortunately.

The first time I got the jab I had no period for 3 months. Then the second time it was like a half period for most of the time.

Good luck with it!

Thank you for your reply, I appreciate it. When you say get checked out.. what exactly for? That's what I'm a bit confused about.. why they are asking me to come in instead of a phone consultation.

Breakthrough bleeding on the depo is actually very common, go back to your GP or CASH clinic and tell them, sometimes they’ll prescribe three months worth of the POP to get it to stop.

I saw my GP this morning, she wanted to look at my cervix and take some swabs so did a speculum exam but unfortunately she said the bleeding is too heavy to see my cervix so going to ring me Tuesday to see if it's stopped. If not she's going to give me some medication to stop the bleeding and then check my cervix then.
