Hello, I’m looking to see if anyone has Any advice on this.

I have had ongoing problems with a lymph node in my neck for the past year just underneath my jaw. And have finally had an ultrasound in the last couple of weeks. The sonographer said the lymph node is actually fine but on looking further he said my thyroid is inflamed ( something called thyroiditis) and said I should get bloods done as I have not been unwell with cold or flu symptoms as sometimes it can be a viral illness related.

I have now had the blood test and my thyroid function TSH has Apparently came back normal the level was 1.30. But I have been experiencing symptoms such as hair loss, loosing weight, bowel problems, dry skin really tired. Could this all be linked to my thyroid or do you think I should speak to my doctor further.

Thanks!

1.3 might be normal, but it is the very low end of normal, so this + symptoms should always warrant further investigation, and / or referral (at the very least, further bloods to be taken and a discussion with your GP about your options)

It might well be worth looking at the NICE guidelines.

Thyroid issues are complex and its often a nightmare getting sorted. You have my sympathies. Arm yourself with as much information as possible and definitely speak to the GP.

Best of luck!

I agree with the above post. Also, TSH tests tend to show abnormalities rather late in the game (thyroid breakdown can take some years) and there are more in-depth tests available that are not on the standard battery of tests.

I would go back to the GP and explain the symptoms you have been having and hopefully this will kick start another investigation.
