Hi everyone, I recently got my results back from my smear test and they were "higher risk HPV" and abnormal cells were found, I've got to go for a colposcopy tomorrow and dreading it.

Any reassurance or anyone that's been through the same would be great thanks my heads going overtime!

Hey,

I've got my colposcopy Monday. Borderline changes & hpv positive too. Don't worry. There is lots they can do. And it doesn't mean you have cancer at all. Take womens probiotics it can help even out vaginal flora and pH levels. And help to rid the infection or so ife been researching in scientific studies. You will be just fine don't stress. Loads and loads of women have been through the same. Usually if there's abnormal cells they just laser them off and monitor you. Sending love xxx

I’ve had two with biopsies and they were honestly fine. I had no pain and the nurses were brilliant at chatting and reassuring me.

Good luck.

I had a colposcopy after abnormal cells were found, the procedure took around 20 minutes, you are given local anesthetic and the abnormal cells are removed by laser, you don’t feel a thing. Legs are held up in stirrups. I took it easy afterwards, mainly on the couch and had an early night, no pain or anything. I did go to work, but I sat down most of the day. I had to have smears every year for 5 years.
